The I.LEAD conference was created and is run by the United Muslim Organizations of Ottawa – Gatineau (UMO-OG). It is an initiative that acts as a coordinating group for the 12 prominent Islamic organizations in the National Capital Region. The aim of the conference is to engage, empower and support the Muslim community to work together and actively participate in building a vibrant community and a greater Canada while maintaining a Muslim Identity.

CHEO Telethon

Since 2013, the UMO-OG has come together to support the CHEO telethon. The community helps raise funds and donates on an annual basis. This year, due to COVID-19, the UMO-OG supported their virtual telethon efforts. 

Raising funds for the Children Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Each association raises funds through its congregation and collectively they present a check on CHEO’s annual fund raising event.Members of the Council of Imams of Ottawa Gatineau work the phones to raise funds on the day of CHEO’s Telethon.

Eid Banquet

Every year, the UMO-OG hosts an Eid Banquet for the leaders of the different Mosques around Ottawa. This community celebration helps unify the city in a time of celebration, and brings together both Muslim and non-Muslim leaders in our incredible community.

MP Dinner

The UMO-OG has always been open to collaborate with local Members of Parliament to resolve concerns and build community engagement.
